...to give me this idea. I thought it seemed rather relevant for the Fae of the Month. I also have to warn that it is rather Unseelie, and I would only advise using it on people that you know well enough, who will not get too mad about this.

So, what if you steal something of one of your friends/family members/whatever? Nothing major, of course, because that would be a bit too nasty. Maybe...a can opener? A few books? Something normal enough. Leave a message that it has been confiscated by the faeries, and can be retrieved by answering a series of riddles. You can set up a place where the victim can drop off the answer to their riddle, and get a new one. Continue as long as you like, or until they get too frustrated, and then have the mischievous faery bring the item back to them!

I do confess, it made more sense in my head this morning...

Funny... I would think it would be improved by doing it as anonymously as possible. Wouldn't the effect be kind of deflated by them finding out that it was just you, at the end of it all? I would think it would be more likely to inspire a "whoa... faeries?" moment if they never figured out exactly how or when it disappeared, how it got back, or who did it...

...I agree that anonymous, whether in family or not, especially if there's a note or something that identifies the culprits as fae of some sort, sounds good...otherwise, people lose stuff all the time and hardly miss it, if it's not their cellphone! Better yet, make sure to include stuff also appearing...

Yes, that is great

Well, I meant that you would do it all anonomously, of course! It would defeat the whole purpose if it wasn't. I just thought it might be a bit creepy/against the law if you do it to someone that you are not well acquainted with. Of course more Unseelie 'bombs are meant to be freaky, but I'm not sure if stealing things is crossing the line a bit...

Oh, I see. You meant "choose someone you know well enough to know their reaction would not be overly negative." Gotcha.

I'm not sure if stealing things is crossing the line a bit...

It's not stealing if you give it back, now is it? ;)

They know it's me though. Damn.

Condiments

Condiments are always disappearing from my house. multiple unopened bottles. I'm sure we've got a brownie with a fondness for barbeque sauce and parmesan cheese.
And things showing up in the refrigerator is good. Most people don't expect to find their books/alarm clock/ underwear in there. Hiding stuff in the house also means it is less likely to be taken than if you hide it in a public place.

Re: Condiments

Or you could put large things like large books, or maybe a small pairs of not glittery wings, in the washer/dryer.
